With over 25 years of product, brand, and digital design expertise, Albert has led initiatives at global companies like Nike and Microsoft to scale design thinking and create compelling experiences for hundreds of millions. His team currently drives incubation for the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, focused on coherent, inclusive design across diverse platforms to bridge the gap between humans and technology. Albert is known to muse on creativity, ambient computing, the responsibility of designers in the fourth industrial revolution, and the perfect bowl of ramen.

Andre de Salis

Creative Director, Industrial Design
Andre has worked with Designworks for 16 years, starting in Los Angeles. He has completed projects in Munich, Singapore and is currently working in Shanghai. Andre has built design solutions for a wide range of clients including: HP, MINI, BMW, Audeze, Corsair, Stratasys, MCI and Virgin Hyperloop One. He is an extremely versatile designer with expertise in industrial design; environmental design; design strategy; design languages; vision and innovation; and ID/UI/UX combined projects. Most recently, Andre led the teams responsible for designing the interior and exterior of Alaka'i Technologies' Skai hydrogen powered eVTOL and the BMW Rival Rig Gaming Station. Andre has worked for other leading consultancies and multinational corporations including Frog Design, Hauser, Inc, and Technicolor, SA. His strong conviction is that each project is an opportunity for making a quality of life improvement in the built environment. His team was awarded countless Red dot and IF awards over the years, most recently including IF Awards for the Skai craft (2020), North Face camper (2020), Orbital tide generator (2021) and Stratasys J55 color 3D printer (2021).

Anthony Pannozzo

Anthony Pannozzo is Executive Creative Director of frog design and global head of frogHealth. He is responsible for overseeing frog’s creative teams and ensuring frog’s work for its clients has the desired impact on their business and in the world. Anthony studied industrial design at RISD and he has applied the fundamental methods of human centered design to help organizations of all kinds chart growth strategies and drive transformation. Anthony believes design is a powerful tool to tackle any challenge and has applied this philosophy to projects as diverse as re-designing Boston College’s undergraduate core curriculum, designing an innovation strategy for the world’s second largest mining company and envisioning customer experience strategies for American Express’ Premium Cards Group. Anthony has earned over 20 patents, has won 5 IDEA awards and has lectured on the value of design at major universities across the country. He is a former IDSA board member and currently sits on Kellogg’s Innovation Advisory Council.

Barry Katz

Fellow & Professor of design
Dr. Katz was the first IDEO Fellow, and today consults on a number of IDEO projects. He is an aggressive networker, and can often be seen bringing prospective clients through the Palo Alto and San Francisco studios. Outside of IDEO Barry is Professor of Industrial and Interaction Design at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, and Consulting Professor in the Design Group, Department of Mechanical Engineering, at Stanford. He is the author of six books, including (with Tim Brown) Change By Design, and most recently, Make it New: The History of Silicon Valley Design (MIT Press, 2015). Barry brings his expertise in the history and theory of design to bear on his work with IDEO project teams, where he has engaged in front-end research on projects ranging from MRI imaging to credit cards to pharmaceuticals. His “Narrative Prototypes” typically result in briefs to design teams and presentations to clients, and he also assists with all forms of writing and editing. He believes that there is no project—however technical or futuristic—that cannot be enriched by a historical and cultural perspective.

Chaiwoo Lee

Research Scientist
Chaiwoo Lee is a Research Scientist at the MIT AgeLab, a research program dedicated to inventing new ideas and creatively translating technologies into practical solutions that improve the quality of life of older adults and those who care for them. Chaiwoo’s research focuses on understanding acceptance and use of technologies across generations, and looks into people’s perceptions, attitudes and experiences with new devices and services. Her recent studies explored a variety of technology domains such as the smart home, vehicle automation, sharing economy services, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, robotics and more. Across different application domains, her research seeks to deeply understand user behaviors and decisions, to discuss issues around societal impacts, and to find implications for human-centered design of future products and services. Chaiwoo received her Ph.D. in Engineering Systems from MIT, and her M.S. and B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Seoul National University.

David Kusuma

David Kusuma is President-Elect of the World design Organization (WDO). He was VP Research & Innovation at Tupperware Brands Corporation for 20 years and recently joined Oregon Tool as Senior Vice President Product Management and Innovation, based in Portland, Oregon USA. His focus has been to leapfrog conventional boundaries of innovation through the implementation of open innovation partnerships to create game-changing product solutions. Prior to Tupperware David worked at GE Plastics as Global Manager, Design and Vehicle Engineering, to lead the development of polycarbonate as a viable alternative to glass in automotive window systems, and prior to GE worked at Bayer Material Science. PhD Cranfield University (UK), MSM Purdue University, MBA Tilburg University (Netherlands), BSME University of Pittsburgh, BFA Carnegie-Mellon University. David is a Fellow of the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) and Fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE).

Keith Blaine

Keith Blaine a California native where he received his Bachelor of Architecture degree form the University of Southern California. Keith entered the profession in to the challenging and rewarding fields of architecture in healthcare and education design. Keith joined Foster + Partners in London to work on the Apple Park campus. This project would bring him back to California to be on site in Silicon Valley. Keith served the Silicon Valley community and architectural profession in 2020 as the President of the AIA American Institute of Architects, Silicon Valley Chapter. Currently Keith is the Director of Architecture for Blaine Architects and Marshall Interiors base in Silicon Valley.

Sam McMorran

As the Experience Design Lead at IDEO China, Sam continuously push the edges of a human centered approach to the integration of service design and digital technologies within the built environment. After practicing interior architecture in London, Sam moved to China in 2010 designing retail experiences, before becoming the Group Creative Director at experiential agency Imagination. At Imagination, he focused on creating authentic and connecting human experiences, managed large teams, delivered work in many sectors and industries, including brand strategy, brand platforms & identities, immersive & digital experiences, activations, events, films, environmental, interior design and furniture design. Sam has worked for brands including, Natwest, Canon, Ford and Lincoln, Disney, Rolls Royce, Pernod Ricard, Huawei, Vivo, Metersbonwe and Adidas. As a strategic thinker, creative storyteller and designer, Sam’s sweet-spot lays at the intersection of business, design and technology, helping teams build strategies to unlock progressive ideas focussed on the human experience.

He joined Baidu in 2010 and is now the head of user experience team and senior design manager of Baidu technology. He has been responsible for the experience design of a series of important products such as Baidu mobile browser, Baidu mobile assistant, Baidu takeaway, Baidu map, Baidu input method, Baidu translation, Ruliu, etc. TPUE is the design team of Baidu AIG system, which is committed to let people enjoy the beauty of technology through design. As the core role of TPUE, it works closely with AI technology teams, outputs technical value to users and industries, and forms perceptible service design. Lead the team to stand in the historical window of AI era and observe the current technology and experience design from the perspective of design. In the AI era, the perceptible service design of AI technology is practiced through the design model of feeling communication connection. Since January 2020, he has led TPUE as the design main body of the front-end service experience of epidemic maps. During the epidemic period, we have provided a series of epidemic map services for the collaborative map products and technology teams and individuals and governments. More than ten COVID-19 maps have been designed and accumulated over 2 billion 240 million times. It has been included in a number of government and industry epidemic research reports such as "Research Report on data and intelligent application in epidemic prevention and control" of China Academy of information technology. Baidu is committed to becoming the world's top high-tech company that understands users best and helps people grow. In his 15 years of design experience, Meng Xu has realized this vision through practical innovation across the Internet, AI technology, service design and other fields. Lead AIG C-end experience design, including Baidu map, Baidu translation, Baidu input method and other domestic first-line products, comprehensively upgrade from traditional Internet tool experience to AI enabled intelligent service, and set an industry benchmark. From the research of AI experience design to the full application of AI experience productization, as a direct core designer and Design Manager, they have made a breakthrough contribution.

Zhao Ye joined Huawei in 2005 and participated in the building of Huawei UCD design capability system. With extensive design experience in multiple domains of carrier, enterprise, and consumer business, he planned and developed design capabilities and tool platforms, and established Huawei experience design studios outside China. He has also accumulated comprehensive experience from long-term user research, design, engineering methods, and experience strategy management.

He has been involved in medical device design, theoretical research and talent training for nearly 30 years. He is one of the first senior industrial designers in China and the recipient of the Silver Medal of the "China Design Contribution Award" of the Guanghua Longteng Award. He is the recipient of two Shenzhen Mayor's Awards for Industrial Design, the First Prize in the China Design Patent Competition and the Guangdong Patent Prize. He has led his design team to win the Gold Award and the Supreme Award in the Shenzhen Global Design Competition and the Diamond Award in the Guangdong Provincial Industrial Design Governor's Cup. He has won dozens of Red dot, iF and IDEA international design awards. Mindray is a 30 year old leader in the medical device industry and the only Chinese company in the top 50 list of global medical device suppliers.
