Albert Leung
Envision
Design Director
Albert is the design director for Envision, a global clean-tech company based in Shanghai. At Envision, Albert leads the effort to elevate the level and impact of design across hardware, software, and environments in the clean energy space. His focus areas include wind energy, energy storage, e-mobility, and carbon management solutions. Prior to joining Envision, Albert was a designer, project leader, and director at IDEO in San Francisco. Envision is a global clean-tech company with locations in China, Singapore, Japan, the UK, France, Germany, and the United States. Our mission is to solve the challenges of a sustainable future. To do this, we develop advanced wind turbines and energy storage systems, and software that can orchestrate complex energy systems on a global scale. Since our founding in 2007, we have grown to be a world leader in clean energy generation and we are at the forefront of developing innovative solutions that increase people’s access to sustainable energy.

Apurva Shah is the co-founder and CEO at Duality, where he leads their mission of building an enterprise metaverse for solving real-world problems. Apurva prior roles include: Head of Creative Technology and Design Systems at Capital One, SVP of global technology at Rhythm & Hues Studios and Visual Effects Supervisor and member of the technical brain trust at Pixar. His film credits include Ratatouille, Shrek, Finding Nemo, and Toy Story 3. He holds several innovative patents in simulation, rendering, and digital payments and has served on the SIGGRAPH committee and on the board of the Visual Effects Society. He is an adjunct professor in the Interaction Design program at California College of the Arts where he covers emerging technology topics such as Metaverse Design and Designing for Trust. Previously he taught animation at Ringling in Sarasota, Art Institute and Academy of Art in San Francisco. Apurva’s consulting collaborations include a technical advisor relationship with LA based Spire Animation Studios and a strategic advisor role to Mumbai-based real-time technology studio, Green Rain. He also serves as advisor for the non-profit Kids & Art Foundation.

Dr. Katz was the first IDEO Fellow, and today consults on a number of IDEO projects. He is an aggressive networker, and can often be seen bringing prospective clients through the Palo Alto and San Francisco studios. Outside of IDEO Barry is Professor of Industrial and Interaction Design at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, and Consulting Professor in the Design Group, Department of Mechanical Engineering, at Stanford. He is the author of six books, including (with Tim Brown) Change By Design, and most recently, Make it New: The History of Silicon Valley Design (MIT Press, 2015). Barry brings his expertise in the history and theory of design to bear on his work with IDEO project teams, where he has engaged in front-end research on projects ranging from MRI imaging to credit cards to pharmaceuticals. His “Narrative Prototypes” typically result in briefs to design teams and presentations to clients, and he also assists with all forms of writing and editing. He believes that there is no project—however technical or futuristic—that cannot be enriched by a historical and cultural perspective.

He has created many national projects and won Red Dot award, IF Award and many other awards at home and abroad, he not only designed the“Carved ink pen” presented by General Secretary XI to more than 30 state leaders as a gift for heads of state, but also the national treasure ball pen for the summit of world leaders of political parties, for China's aerospace science and technology design of ultra-high-speed low vacuum tube maglev test vehicle, participated in the party's century-long epic“Great Journey” related design work; He has also designed more than 1,100 pieces for dozens of units including the Chinese Air Force and the qinghai-tibet railway, including China's first bank card with more than 400,000 ich-themed cards.

Jeroen Raijmakers is sr. Director Design Innovation at Philips Experience Design where he leads a design research program for healthcare with presence in Europe (Eindhoven NL), USA (Cambridge MA), India (Bangalore) and China (Shanghai). With a global team of designers, Jeroen strives to deliver advanced solutions for healthcare professionals and patients whether in the hospital or at home in for example Diagnostic Imaging, Acute Care, Healthcare Informatics and Connected Care. Jeroen’s responsibilities include EU public-private partnerships and university relationships. Recently he started the EU funded program DCODE in collaboration with 6 European universities to research inclusive and sustainable digital futures for fundamentally new design competences and practices. Many healthcare products and user interfaces designed under his direction have been recognized by prestigious design award organizations. Jeroen graduated with honors from the Design faculty at Technical University Delft, where he now holds a Visiting Professor position since 2015 and is appointed member of the Educational Advisory Board.

Senior Architect, National First Class Registered Architect. He serves as a director of the Architect Branch of the Architectural Society of China, a member of the Digital Professional Committee of the Architects Branch of the Architectural Society of China, a director of the Beijing Planning Society, and a part-time master tutor of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture. He graduated from the Department of Architecture of Tongji University in 1997 with a master's degree. He has won the Young Architect Award of the Architectural Society of China. Creative design of landmark buildings such as Beijing Phoenix Center, leading the future of the construction industry with digital design. He has won the Young Architect Award of the Architectural Society of China, the Gold Award of Architectural Creation of the Architectural Society of China, the 2013 Asian Institute of Architects Excellent Architectural Design Award, and the 2016 International Architectural BIM Gold Award. The plan implements the core area of Beijing's CBD, Daxing New Airport City, and promotes the cross-border integration of "In Search of Le Corbusier" architectural culture with science, art and urban life.

Stefano Boeri

Founder
Stefano Boeri is a world known architect, curator, critic and educator. In 2008-09, as a member of the Architecture Council for Expo 2015, he designed the Masterplan for Expo 2015 in Milan with Jacques Herzog and Ricky Burdett. Councillor for Culture, Fashion and Design of the Municipality of Milan from 2011 to 2013 and from 2015 to 2018 he was a member of the scientific committee of the Uffizi Galleries in Florence. Since February 2018 he has been President of the La Triennale di Milano Foundation, one of Italy’s leading cultural institutions, active in the promotion and setting up of exhibitions, conferences and events related to Art, Design and Architecture. As an architect and urban planner, Stefano Boeri found Stefano Boeri Architetti. The work of the Stefano Boeri Architetti studio ranges from the production of urban visions and architecture to interior and product design, with constant focus on the geopolitical and environmental implications of urban phenomena.

He is an expert with special allowances of the State Council, a part-time professor and master tutor of the School of Architecture of Tsinghua University, one of the 100 architects of contemporary China, a scientific, technical and management talent with outstanding contributions in Beijing, a winner of the Beijing Capital Labor Medal, and an outstanding design talent of Beijing. More than 30 years of professional work, in the field of large-scale public building design, modern architectural design technology system research, industry management and development promotion, rigorous governance, innovation, advanced concepts, and return a number of high-quality engineering products and far-reaching basic scientific research achievements in the society. Thomas Garvey

Thomas Garvey specializes in product development and design for extreme and minimal environments. Interest in small-scale living spaces came from his work indoors on the space station in New York, and his doctoral research on housing and urban density at the University of Tokyo. For nearly a decade, documenting images and data about how historical minimalist design philosophies can still be seen in a range of contemporary lifestyle designs, living environments, and products that bring meaning to everyday experiences. He became involved in hospital ward design after joining the Global University Project for Healthcare Architecture (GUPHA). The international organization looks at how design education can help address the increasingly complex changes that are taking place in hospitals around the world due to expanding and aging populations. Thomas Garvey and his team have received numerous awards and their prototypes have been exhibited at conferences and exhibitions around the world, bridging the design and medical fields. He has also been involved in a range of design education curriculum development projects, both within the University and in collaboration with external organisations. Most recently, he was invited to contribute in the field of housing and shelter as an expert at the 2014 ICSID Interdesign Mumbai. Sponsored by the Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, Mumbai, this work led to a pilot project in Canada to integrate design thinking into design and business collaborations. Thomas Garvey holds a BA in Industrial Design from Carleton University, an MA in Communication Design from Pratt Institute in New York (funded by the Canada Good Design Fellowship from Industry, Trade and Commerce Canada), and a PhD in Architectural Planning from the University of Tokyo (by Japanese Ministry of Education (Monbusho) Research Fellowship Funding). He also received funding from the Michael Kalil Foundation.

He graduated from Tsinghua University with Ph. D. in Engineering, LLM and Ph. D. in Political Science. Visiting Scholar and Associate Fellow, Paris Institute of Political Science, France. Since 2016, he has been engaged in policy research on industrial design and has undertaken a number of research projects and special projects in the field of industrial design. He has twice won the first prize for Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China outstanding research results. He co-edited the 2021 Blue Book of Industrial Design and the annual report on cross-border M & A in China. In the past two years, he has been responsible for the planning, organization and execution of China International Industrial Design Expo. At the invitation of local governments, enterprises and universities, the policy of industrial design has been preached and interpreted many times. Leading the planning of“Industrial design services local activities” is listed as the national service month of small and medium-sized enterprises Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the top ten brand activities, as the responsible person, I was awarded the first prize for innovative management of the track in the 2022 Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China Youth Meritorious Service competition.
