Harvey Kim

Managing Director of Greater China
Harvey Kim is a Managing Director of Industry Consulting at Accenture Greater China, with 22 years of experience in the industry. During his career, Harvey has provided business consulting services to global and Chinese big tech giants, focusing on business strategy, including experience design and business operating model design. Harvey has been working and living in China with his family since 2007. He has been serving the expatriate business community in China through various events and providing advisory services to foreign businessmen who are doing business in China. With the experience and insights gained, he has published two books on how to succeed in Chinese business. Outside of China, he has studied, worked and lived in Seoul, Singapore, New York, and Lausanne.

Liu Xihui

She is an associate professor of design management, business model and Design Policy at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She has founded Haohan Product Design (Shanghai) Co. , Ltd. , and led the team to complete hundreds of design projects. In the field of design management, she created the evaluation model of enterprise design competitiveness and adopted it in European countries. In the field of business model, she has successfully created a product home with other commercial cases, leading the industry transformation. In the field of design policy, she is a principal researcher on the Chinese Academy of Engineering National Innovation Design Strategy Project and the author of the Made in China 2025. She has published nearly 100 works and articles, is the president of the International Design Institute conference and the initiator of the Chinese university design doctoral forum.

Liu Pingyun

He is the chief executive officer of the Beijing Winter Olympics mascot Bingdun Dun, the vice president (chair) of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts School of Visual Arts and design, and the head of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts Guangzhou National Advertising Industry Park He is the winner of the Guangdong May Day Labor Medal, the 2022 Baidu Boiling Point Person of the year, and the winner of the Guangdong advertising education “Outstanding Contribution Award”, he is China International“Internet +” Outstanding Innovation and Entrepreneurship Mentor. He has long been engaged in the research of brand visual design, major projects hosted or participated in include IP image design for air show China, mascot design for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, mascot design for the zero th Gymnasiade, visual system design for the 2019 World Cup, visual design for the 2019 Asian Food Festival, gift design for the central delegation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Tibetan Autonomous Region of China in 2015, and gift design for the central delegation to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Xinjiang Autonomous Region in 2015. He is the author of“Illustration design and application”, “Selling cartoons” and other books, published design-related articles, many works published in various newspapers, magazines and books. His works have been invited to participate in the guangdong-hong Kong-macao Bay area design exhibition 2018, “A better life”-Guangdong art exhibition 2020, “The Herald of the Times-guangzhou centennial of literature and art exhibition”(2021) , the Venice meta-universe Biennale 2022 and the fourth China design exhibition, the “Bingdun Mound” manuscript is on display at the National Museum of China and acquired for collection.

Lau Siu Hong Freeman

Having been working in the creative industry for over 40 years, Freeman has been doing a wide spectrum of creative works and achieved over 300 awards in different streams. Ever since the 90s, chair has been being an important medium for Freeman’s creations. He started to use chair as a metaphor for the exploration of different issues about human beings. In fact, chairs keep appearing in all sort of works by Freeman, including public art, graphic design, furniture design, product design and sculpture. Gradually, chair has become a signature of Freeman’s works. After the millennium, Freeman started to call his range of works about chair - “Chairplay”. The “Chairplay” series includes a range of furniture and sculpture. For furniture, he got the “Duo” which refers to the relationship between men and women; “Intertwined” the interpersonal relationship; “Chairligraphy” the artist’s affection of calligraphy; and “Chairfun” the relationship between human beings and the nature. For sculpture, he got “Chairplay I & IV”, “City”, “Agenda” and “Equilibrium”, so on and so forth. Through these works, he tried all sorts of materials and techniques through the collaboration with different production teams. He also kept pushing for the best of the traditional craftsmanship via his designs in order to enhance the production techniques. “Chairplay” had been shown around the globe via the invitations by different exhibitions, such as “The 8th International Mini Sculpture Exhibition(2003)” held by the University of Hawaii Art Gallery in USA, “Artists in the Neighbourhood Scheme II: People • Chair(2003)” organised by Art Promotion Office of Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department, “Of Ink and Chairs—Kan Tai-Keung + Freeman Lau, Art and Design Exhibition(2003)” taking place in DDD Gallery and Shizuoka University of Art and Culture in Japan, “X beyond O Calligraphy–Sign–Space” exhibition (2009) in Taiwan, “The New Aesthetics of Crafts – The Nomination Show of Chinese Contemporary Craftsmen (2010)” in Shanghai”, “Art Basel (2013)” in Hong Kong, “The 5th Gwangju International Design Biennial(2013)”in Korea, so on and so forth. Freeman co-founded KL&K Creative Strategics, and is currently the Vice Chairman of the Design Alliance Asia, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Federation of Design and Creative Industries. As a designer as well as a promoter in the field, Freeman’s great contribution is widely recognised in society, which therefore brings him a myriads of awards such as “World Outstanding Chinese Designer Award of DFA Design for Asia Awards” (2021). In September 2022, Freeman co-curated the “By the People: Creative Chinese Characters” exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Recent publications by Freeman include a biography with the same name as his exhibition “Freeman Lau & Design: Inter-dependent Decisions”, published by Chung Hwa Book Company in 2020, and a collective three-volume set with acclaimed designers Kan Tai-Keung and Hong Ko “3 Generations in 2 Places – Creative Trio” in 2022.

Mao Yumin

Director of UCD and TSC at Huawei 2012 Labs
She holds a University of Science and Technology of China degree in communications and electronic systems from the Department of Electrical Engineering and information science. She is currently the Director of the UCD and translation centre of the Huawei 2012 laboratory and the Director of the sub-committee on Experience Design of the Huawei 2012 laboratory. She is responsible for user experience design and the management of the multilingual translation business of the Hong Kong company. She was vice president of software at consumer BG Huawei, head of UX design, and head of technology planning and product management. She has been responsible for UX design management for all consumer products in Huawei and product management, technical planning, marketing and technical collaboration for BG Consumer Software in Huawei. She has made outstanding contributions in research and development, marketing and marketing, and was named the “Blue Blood Ten” by Huawei Companies.

Harry Sze

As Director of Creative Consulting, BMW Group Designworks Shanghai Studio, Harry comes from a diverse design background ranging from automotive startups, design consultancies, to global OEMs. He has spent most of his career designing for premium and luxury brands such as BMW, Mini, Roll Royce, Fisker, and Cadillac. Born in Hong Kong and raised in California, Harry has been working in China for over 12 years collectively, giving him diverse perspectives and deep cultural understanding. Besides being highly skilled in automotive design, Harry specializes in insight and foresight, as well as creating brand and product visions and strategies. His empathetic approach towards design allows him to fully immerse into any brand or project. Harry holds a BS degree in Transportation Design from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.

Tong Huiming

Professor of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, founder of BDDWatch. Former Deputy Director of the Industrial Design Teaching and Guidance Sub-Committee of the Ministry of Education, and international jury member of the Japan G-Mark Award 2017-2021. Nearly 40 years of industrial design observer, educator, practitioner, founder of the Brand Driven by design (BDD) concept. He is an educator, practitioner and observer of the industrial design industry. He proposed the concept of Brand Driven by Design (BDD) in 2017, and founded the research platform BDD WATCH (Brand Driven by Design) in early 2018. Fully promote the innovation and brand practice of the concept of "technology + design + business", practice the truth in the development and integration of art and business, and interpret the essence of a better life. He has been committed to promoting the development of industrial design in China, has written more than 200 articles, designed nearly 100 pieces, and served as a judge for many domestic and foreign design competitions. In this exchange, Professor Tong Huiming shared his understanding of industrial design during his teaching career, as well as his insights into this industry during his decades of design practice.

He is the Vice President and Head of Design of GAC R&D CENTER. He is a member of the China Industrial Design Association, an executive director of the Guangdong Industrial Design Association, and a master's supervisor at Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts. He comprehensively manages the industrial design work of all models of GAC Group's independent brands "GAC Trumpchi" and "Aion". The designed models have won the China Appearance Design Gold Award, China Excellent Industrial Design Gold Award, China Design Red Star Award Gold Award, Germany iF Design Award, and so on. He uses his "leading domestic and world-class" design strength to help promote the sales growth and market success of automotive independent brands. At the same time, as a representative of Chinese original automotive design, he has established a significant position for Chinese design in the world automotive industry.
