Christopher is Head of SAP Design AppHaus Asia which help companies pursue design-led digital transformation and foster innovation culture within their organization. He is responsible for supporting SAP customers in the Asia-Pacific region. Prior to his current role, Christopher served as Chief Innovation Officer for SAP Korea. This was the position that triggered his transfer from SAP Labs Palo Alto to Seoul in 2013. From 1995 until his move to Korea, he lived in Silicon Valley and worked in various roles including product development, engineering research, marketing, UX design, strategy, and management for technology-oriented companies. Christopher is dedicated to spreading innovation culture to society and advancing SAP’s vision to help the world run better and improve people’s lives. He has delivered numerous talks on the topic of design thinking and innovation to business executives, university students, and government officials.
AppHaus is the name for both the organization and the creative space in which they work. There are currently five locations worldwide: Palo Alto (Silicon Valley) and New York City in the United States, Berlin and Heidelberg in Germany, and the edge of Seoul (Pangyo) in Korea. Christopher established the AppHaus organization in Korea in 2015 and built the space in 2016. Since its inauguration, over seven thousand customers have visited the AppHaus for experiencing design thinking workshops, conducting co-innovation projects, and learning about innovative work culture and space design.
At SAP Design, our aim is to improve people’s lives by making work delightful. We do this by helping companies create a human-centered culture of innovation and by designing software that improve employee experience and efficacy at work. In this talk, I describe why making work delightful is so important in this modern era of work and provide concrete examples of how we are striving to achieve it. This topic presents a design challenge that draws upon multiple disciplines and shows a need for a new framework that can help guide designers to impact the future of work.
