Workshop Introduction:
Brainstorming “Unconscious Interactions”;
Sounds like a scary proposition? It’s actually quite cool, and ingenious. For example, consider the design of a browser’s scroll bar to encourage additional interaction, a phone app hiding half of a picture to persuade the user to unconsciously slide to uncover the remainder, or even the perforation of a bag of chips intentionally enticing the customer to indulge
These “unconscious interactions”are in fact seamless connections between the user and the product. and intuitive operations that don’t require much afterthought. In product design, a designer uses a WYSIWYG framework to simplify the end user’s operation, while ensuring that the product features are well-represented.
The internet’s overflow of information has led to users’ selective attention span becoming increasingly more precious. Thus, websites now employ quick and simple registration processes. But how do we incentivize these users to “unconsciously” provide us with the complete set of data/information?
For a film/photography product, for example
1. How do we guide users to voluntarily improve upon one’s personal profile
2. How do we encourage users to post original and innovative pictures?
Workshop Arrangement:
1.Brainstorming: Unconscious Interactions
2.Overview of the user’s unconscious interactions in using a product
3.Break into groups to discuss site designs and experiences
