Jason Demetillo
Canva
Principal Designer
I was the founding designer and principal designer for building an AI Powered spreadsheet from 0 to 1 for the past 2 years. It launched on Canva recently (2 months ago) and it's called Canva Sheets.
With 15+ years of experience working in New York City, San Francisco, China, Singapore, and now Australia, Jay Demetillo has built an impressive resume of experience and creating impact.
Jay has designed for Twitter, Pinterest, Yahoo, and Grab. Jay was an adjunct professor at California College of the Arts in San Francisco and has spoken/lectured in China for ACG. He’s worked on notable projects like the Bay Lights, Gaspar Brasserie, San Francisco’s Park System SFPark, GrabFood, Grab's Facial Recognition for Drivers, and Grab AudioProtect.
Jay is passionate about building products and designs that are inclusive, having empathy for your users, and dismantling yourbiases. Currently, he's at Canva where he led and launched Canva Sheets this year.
Voice AI has become a new trend (recently, 22% of startups are focusing on the voice domain), but most voice interfaces fail due to simply applying visual design thinking. This hands-on workshop will break through traditional teaching methods and guide you to master the essence of conversational design by building a fully functional intelligent voice assistant on-site.
In this workshop, you will learn to design natural multi-turn dialogues, skillfully handle voice interaction errors, and create a trustworthy voice personality. Using no-code tools and practical frameworks, we will go beyond basic chatbots to build truly intelligent conversational experiences.
Workshop Outline:
Fundamentals of Voice Design and Flow Mapping
1.1 Voice vs. Visual Design Principles
1.2 Figma Dialog Flow Design
1.3 Multi-Turn Dialogue Mapping
1.4 Error Handling Patterns
